Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Praneos Labs ("Praneos Labs", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects information in connection with the DriftStop application for macOS (the "App") and the website at driftstop.praneos.ai (the "Site"). The App and the Site are together the "Services". By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.

1. Information processed by the App on your device

The App operates on your Mac. The information in this Section is processed and stored locally and is not transmitted to us or to any third party, except as stated in Section 3.

1.1 Information the App accesses

With the macOS permissions you grant, the App accesses:

• the name of the active application, its window title, and the address of the page open in your web browser (Accessibility permission);
• the text visible in the active window, which is recognized on your Mac (Screen Recording permission); and
• a classification of whether music or speech is playing, derived locally from system audio.

Screen text is used to perform the relevance check and is then discarded. The App does not store screenshots and does not record or store audio.

1.2 Information the App stores in encrypted form

The App stores the following history in encrypted databases. The encryption key is held in your macOS login Keychain. Access to the history within the App requires Touch ID or your account password.

• applications and windows used, and the duration of use;
• web pages visited in your browser (address and page title), the duration of each visit and the originating application, retained for 90 days;
• Site Guard events, such as a tab closure or a reached time limit, and any reason you enter for a visit;
• your responses to check-in prompts;
• per-minute music or speech labels, without audio, retained for 30 days; and
• a short excerpt of screen text, only when you report that a reminder was incorrect, to improve future checks.

Unless a retention period is stated above, history is retained until you delete it.

1.3 Information the App stores without App-level encryption

• Projects and settings. Your projects (titles, descriptions and milestones) and your settings, including site lists, are stored in the App's macOS preferences file.
• Diagnostic log. A local log, limited to approximately 10 MB, records application names, timings, Site Guard events, the names of guarded sites and local file paths, which may include your macOS user name. It does not record screen text, window titles or full page addresses.
• Exports. If you use the Export function, the App writes an unencrypted copy of your history to a location you select. You are responsible for that copy.

These files are protected by macOS security measures, such as FileVault, where you have enabled them.

2. Information collected through the Site

• Early access sign-up. If you sign up, we collect your email address and the sign-up form you used.
• Feedback. If you submit feedback through the Site or the App, we collect the content you submit and, from the App, the App version and whether the on-device AI is enabled.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and browser information to deliver the Site and to protect it against abuse.
• Cookies. The Site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or tracking technologies.

3. Network connections made by the App

Links in the App open in your web browser. Such visits are governed by the privacy policy of the destination site. The App makes no other network connections. Before the App introduces a license verification or automatic update check, we will update this Section to describe the data transmitted.

4. How we use information

We use the information we receive only to:

• send you early access invitations, launch announcements and other communications about DriftStop;
• respond to your feedback and requests, and improve the Services;
• operate, secure and protect the Site; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

5. Legal bases for processing

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal information on the following bases: your consent, for email communications (you may withdraw consent at any time); our legitimate interests, for responding to feedback and securing the Site; and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Disclosure of information

We disclose personal information only to the following service providers, which process it on our behalf for the stated purposes:

• Cloudflare, Inc. (Site hosting and security);
• Tally BV (sign-up and feedback forms); and
• Hugging Face, Inc. (AI model download, as described in Section 3).

We may also disclose information where required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, property or safety of Praneos Labs, our users or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Retention

We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we discontinue the communications for which it was collected. We retain feedback for as long as necessary to address it and improve the Services. Information stored by the App on your Mac is retained as described in Section 1 and is under your control.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption of App history at rest. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and choices

• On-device data. You can view, export or delete App data at any time. Settings > Data > Clear All History deletes your history and the diagnostic log and replaces the encryption key, so that prior backups of the encrypted files cannot be decrypted. To remove all App data, quit and delete the App, delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/DriftStop and the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.praneos.driftstop.plist, and delete the "DriftStop storage key" item in Keychain Access.
• Email. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Data protection rights. Depending on your location, including the EU, the UK and California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To submit a request, contact us at hello@praneos.com. We will respond within 30 days, or within the period required by applicable law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above. If a change affects the data the App transmits, we will describe it in the release notes before the change takes effect, and where required by law we will notify you or obtain your consent.
