How DriftStop works

The short answers, and what we build next.

How is it different from a blocker?

Blockers judge the app or the website. DriftStop’s local AI reads what is on the screen and checks it against your goal. So an AI tutorial on YouTube counts as work, and a car review on the same YouTube does not. Sites stay open: you get a nudge, not a wall.

Does my screen leave my Mac?

No. The AI runs on your Mac. It reads only the window in front, keeps no screenshots and sends nothing to a server. No account, no tracking. Privacy policy

Which Macs?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and macOS 15.5 or later.

Is it free?

Yes, during the beta. If that changes, we tell you first.

Roadmap

What’s coming next

DriftStop is early, and we build it in the open. Here’s what works today, what’s next, and what we’re dreaming up.

Now

Works in the beta today.

  • Projects with milestones. Pick a few, and see where your day really went.
  • Local AI nudges. It notices when you drift and kindly brings you back.
  • Site Guard. A short pause and a daily budget for x.com and friends. Never a wall.
  • Gamified progress. Milestone bars, an on-task score and your longest focus streak.
  • Private by design. The AI runs on your Mac. No account, no tracking, encrypted history.

Later

Bigger ideas we're exploring.

  • Talk, don't type. Speak a quick progress update. It turns into text right on your Mac.
  • Nudges in your own voice. Opt-in self-talk instead of a nanny.
  • Today's frog. One thing to do first each day, plus a calm look back each week.
  • A coach that learns you. It learns how you drift and picks the gentlest nudge that works. Your goals stay yours.
  • Bring your tasks. Import from Todoist, Notion or Linear.
